Gold - President 
Bob Gold originally established his agency with the goal of helping clients develop business-to-business relations with cable and technology companies. Today, his breadth of industry expertise encompasses wireline and wireless telecommunications technologies, cable TV operations, network programming – from distribution to ad sales and consumer publicity, e-commerce, hardware, software, new technologies, real estate and healthcare.
His business philosophy: Business is the business of relationships. He likes to use public relations as a business development tool, to build strong relationships with existing clients and their key audiences to help them achieve better penetration in new markets.
With over 20 years' experience in public relations and marketing, Bob Gold has launched or rebranded numerous web-based start-ups, cable networks and helped further strategic business plans for countless companies and associations. He has also raised over a million dollars for charities and taught hundreds of students about public relations. Today he serves on multiple Boards of Directors, including the Society for Cable TV Engineers Foundation (where he is the only non-engineer); Public Relations Society of America – Los Angeles Chapter and the Friends of the Arava Institute.
He has previously served on the boards of the Alzheimer's Association, Cable Positive, Trust for Public Land, Rolling Hills Preparatory School and various trade groups, among others.
Prior to founding Bob Gold & Associates, Gold served as executive vice president for The Bohle Company, a Los Angeles-based public relations firm where he managed a diverse group of clients in high-technology, multimedia and the Internet.
Earlier, Bob served as vice president for marketing and communications at Prime Sports, where he oversaw all advertising, marketing, media relations, public affairs and charitable giving for the Los Angeles based regional sports network (today called “Fox Sports West”). Previously Gold served as head of West Coast affiliate public relations for Home Box Office. He entered the cable television field in 1981 when he joined Cable Health Network, currently Lifetime, as a public relations manager.

Larry Kaplan - Vice President, Public Affairs
With nearly 30 years in public service leadership roles, Larry Kaplan brings to Bob Gold & Associates a thorough knowledge and wealth of relationships extending across national as well as throughout California's communities and leaders. Passionate about urban constituencies and social justice, Kaplan’s expertise in transformational management, especially for those organizations operating in challenging environments is widely-recognized. He has worked on political campaigns, and has consulted for a number of public agencies, non-profits and private companies.
Prior to joining Bob Gold & Associates, Kaplan served as the executive director of Workplace Hollywood, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the diversity of the entertainment industry’s workforce through recruitment, placement, training, internships, education and advocacy. He also developed a work-based learning program for inner-city students studying arts and media.
Earlier he served as the Los Angeles Area Director for the Trust for Public Land, a national land conservation organization. He was responsible for managing their urban inner-city park program in Los Angeles County, helped change attitudes toward urban parks and playgrounds; and assisted many communities develop their public funding sources.
Kaplan’s career includes serving as Regional Director for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer covering the state from the Tehachapi’s to the Mexican border during her first term (1994 – 98). Previously he served under a number of state and local elected officials, in capacities ranging from press secretary to chief of staff (L.A. Councilman Mike Woo from 1985-89).
Larry’s areas of expertise include public relations, community and governmental relations, program management, strategic planning, fundraising, community economic development and urban planning, and conservation and the environment.
He is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Journalism. |
